The problem won't go away until we abolish the whole background check crap. When criminals aren't given any second chance to reintegrate back to society, they go back to be criminals.
If we teach them skills in prison and get rid of background checks, we may actually make some real changes.
Yea, I'm sure these choir boys were only resorting to a life of crime because they couldn't pass a background check.
No, they did not....and no, she does not. You can come to an Internet forum and paint pictures of alternate realities to your heart's content, but they're not going to sell in a court of law. Provided she has a defense attorney of even minimal competence, she will be acquitted of these bogus murder charges.
If it were her friends/accomplices who did the killing, you'd at least have a position from which to argue your stance. Since it was not, you do not.
She'll do time for the break-in and robbery, as she should. But your murder charges are nothing but sadistic and baseless hot air.

You have to look at the positive side of her being sentenced to a long prison term. She'll send a message to others in her community and nationally that getting involved in violent crime is just stupid and will result in a destroyed life. She'll probably only get 20 years or so which will still give her a chance at a life. But her actions did cause three homicides and she has to accept responsibility for them.
Pipe dream. It won't send a message to anyone.
Basically, this is just trumping up charges on someone unjustifiably. Anything more than a few years is a travesty and a total miscarriage of justice. She didn't cause three deaths...the shooter did. She didn't force anyone to rob anyone. They did it on their own.
This tragedy reminds me of the ending scene in the movie Fargo when Marge Gunderson said [to Gaear], "So, that was Mrs. Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people [murdered] in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money? There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don'tcha know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well. I just don't understand it."
Three young men are dead and this young woman's live is ruined all for "a little bit of money". And I don't understand it either, Marge.
Am I the only one that thinks its dumb to charge her with that? There are tons of things you can charge her with but we are diluting the meaning of 1st degree murder. Why not just call everything 1st degree murder.
This is Oklahoma law. Many other states also have similar laws. In the act of committing a felony, if people lose their lives, you are charged with their murders, even if the people who lost their lives were your accomplices. There have been numerous cases like this throughout the years. These laws are meant to deter criminals.

This has been mentioned many times in this thread. If people don't understand it by now they never will.

Actually it's the love of money, not money itself that is the root to all evil.
