The Senate Intelligence Committee turned down the request by former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's lawyer for a grant of immunity in exchange for his testimony, two congressional sources told NBC News.
A senior congressional official with direct knowledge said Flynn's lawyer was told it was "wildly preliminary" and that immunity was "not on the table" at the moment. A second source said the committee communicated that it is "not receptive" to Flynn's request "at this time."
Flynn seems a little desperate here, he must know the FBI and Senate IC have most of the leverage.
With moderate Susan Collins (R, Maine) on the committee, instead of leaning Repub 7-6, the panel will actually be down the middle. Burr and Warner signaled they will be acting as co-chairs. This panel will behave a lot differently than the Nunes' circus show.
One, we don't know that Flynn has asked for immunity.
Second, we don't know what Flynn has to say.
Remember that a number of people got immunity in Hillary's espionage investigation, does that automatically mean Hillary violated the law?
True but that would be like if Hillary asked for immunity. I can only imagine the mind numbing meltdown on the right if that had happened. They were already chanting, "lock her up" at the GOP convention. Who was that guy that led that chant? Oh yah, Flynn. Man, talk about karma.
What does Flynn have that thinks he'll get immunity? If he does get it it can only be about someone above him in the administration (ie Trump).
Flynn just wants to testify about how the "Russia stuff" is nonsense, but does not want to be charged later about his involvement with Turkey if there is any alleged misdeed that he can be indicted for.
