If you don't have anything to hide then who cares? I don't. Move along... Life goes on... A hundred years from now nobody will care. If they do, who cares because you will be long gone.

You don't mind police coming in and randomly searching your house then, correct?
I think its that we haven't really lost anything we can see per se. People will recognize it if the government ever rounds up folks based on google searches. (My wife writes fiction, she is in SOOOO much trouble).
But until its really had some impact...people arent caring.
But remember when some banks had you validate your identity by asking some questions? Only they didnt use your questions, they would juststart asking questions.
For example, they asked me if I recognized any of 3 names. One of them was my stepmom.
Another question had my address form 8 years ago
Another had a job I had worked at years ago.
NONE of this information was provided from me. This was a brand new bank, and they knew some truly creepy stuff.
This stuffs been out there for a long time.
Yes, I think you're right in saying people don't care about what they cannot see. By the time we see it, it's going to be far too late to do anything.
Some company I went online to conduct a transaction with is still doing what you describe. "Did you ever own a (car from God knows how many years ago)" and "Which of these three institutions is mortgaging your home?" I can't remember which company, or which type of company it was, but my response the first time it happened was - WTH?!
I know you're correct in sayng it's been out there - but now it's everything we do. It will be a way to manipulate and control us. In fact, I often wonder if they don't purposely leak this stuff that they're doing just to condition the masses.
You didn't clarify if it was a yes or no question. No, I don't want them kicking my door down. That being said if I am not doing something that gives them reason then I should be safe.

Again, you must have a paranoid state of mind.
Who said anything about kicking down your door? There is such a thing as privacy though. And that is covered by the Constitution. So there is that.

"You don't mind police coming in and randomly searching your house then, correct?" I guess it is a matter of semantics. I like my privacy. I give the government no reason to kick down my door. What are you trying get me to say?

Im not trying to get you to say anything. I just find it funny that some people think the government, or anyone for that matter, should have the right to know everything about you. I also find it funny that if you believe in privacy those same people think you must be paranoid.

Whatever. You find it funny one way or the other. I just don't have anything to hide so to me if the government wants to listen to my life it doesn't bother me. If it keeps my family safe then have at it.
I also believe there are levels of privacy. If I turn off all electronic devices in my home, including phones, I expect we should have some form of privacy.
Call me ignorant or call me laid back. I don't care.
It really isn't that hard to get off the grid. That is what a lot of people don't understand. Do you have any debt? If the answer is no then you can disappear very fast. If you can live without a cell phone and computer then you are good. Everyone's SSNs are the only problem.
