Jacobson v Mass confirmed there is no right to infect people.
"Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 (1905), was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court upheld the authority of states to enforce compulsory vaccination laws. The Court's decision articulated the view that the freedom of the individual must sometimes be subordinated to the common welfare and is subject to the police power of the state."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacobson_v._Massachusetts

"The liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States does not import an absolute right in each person to be at all times, and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint, nor is it an element in such liberty that one person, or a minority of persons residing in any community and enjoying the benefits of its local government, should have power to dominate the majority when supported in their action by the authority of the State.

It is within the police power of a State to enact a compulsory vaccination law, and it is for the legislature, and not for the courts, to determine."

https://supreme.justia.com/cases/fed...7/11/case.html

"There, the Supreme Court upheld an ordinance that set vaccination as a prerequisite for school attendance without regard to the actual or imminent presence of an epidemic. Jacobson's requirement of both an assessment of risk and an evaluation of response survived; its belief in the equality of lay and medical evaluations did not. Both Zucht and Barmore suggest a major step in judicial conceptualization of the role of public health actions. Doctors were now fighting disease on a broad scale, moving to deal effectively with diseases whose presence was not even recognized by the public. In judging such actions, courts found doctors' expertise indispensible."

In extreme circumstances where people are dropping dead from VPD that might be true but not when we are talking about things like measles, HPV vaccine, rotavirus, chicken pox, etc. in a first world country.

School exemptions remain in place for most states. If people don't like those exemptions and want more government control, they can move to West Virginia, Mississippi and California where they only allow medical exemptions.

Two victims of Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease in Southampton in England had been vaccinated with the same polio vaccine batch made from calf foetuses. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare and ultimately fatal degenerative brain disease which rapidly robs a person of all mental faculties.

Minister admits MPs were misled over vaccine rules | The Independent

Two CJD victims linked to the same polio vaccine | Daily Mail Online

This was at time when trust in the medical profession and government had already been eroded due to BSE and CJD, so it was hardly surprising that people were wary of vaccines such as the polio vaccine. Other studies have linked vaccines to all kinds of conditions and 917 people in the UK received payouts from the UK Government for severe mental and physical disability caused by vaccines between 1979 when the Vaacine Disability Compensation Scheme was first set up and 2005, which was when the last figures were released. The UK Vaccine Disability Compensation Scheme still deals with numerous cases every year.

Estimate doubled for vCJD carriers in UK - BBC News

Many more people could still die from mad cow disease in the UK - New Scientist (2017)

I for one do not believe everything Government or the State tell us, and I am rightly suspicious of what goes in to Vaccines, and I do believe in the right to informed choice, as should be the case in any democracy except in certain cases of national emergency.

It's all in the name of science.

While I love Bill Nye the Science Guy, science must be held in relation to the brains behind it. Keep that one in mind.

Irrelevant to the thread at hand unless you want to imply that a large amount of people die due to mistakes administering vaccines, which would be... FALSE.

Both sides are crazy. I didn't realize what a heated topic this is but wow, it's a mini war. The craziest thing about it is there are much more important things to worry about. I poked a bit of fun because it's so stupid.

You can ask your doctor about how helpful vaccines are and he'll give you an extra half hour of his time but if you ask if he'd support a NHS style healthcare system all you hear is crickets and you're outta there in less than five.

Most people get vaccinated now, it's a no brainer. Why not just put your energy into the real problems? Available and affordable healthcare and medicine? Improving medical mistakes? Pushing more vaccines seems pretty far down on the list. I wonder why it's so polarizing? Seems to just be hyper fear gang activity. Maybe it helps take away the attention we should be putting on the real threats. ^^^
