Science has traditionally been a difficult field for women to break into. What's wrong with highlighting a few successful female scientists, alongside the male ones, at a rally entitled the March for Science?
The problem isn't the inclusion of women. It is the purposeful exclusion of white men. If they want to have a women-only event then go ahead and do so, but don't pretend it is an inclusive event when you are making decisions based on gender and race.
You are aware that women are more than 50 percent of the population, right? How horrible to show women in science. It will make all those insecure men angry, as seems to be the reaction in this thread.
Again, to soothe your injured psyche, there will be plenty of white men there as well, and Bill Nye is still one of the headliners. He's just not the ONLY headliner.
I know, I know, it's appalling that he will have to share the stage with a few women of science. But never fear, men still dominate the field and probably will for a decade or more to come. Which is kind of the point.
You are aware that men are 50 percent of the population, right? How horrible would it be to break the female stranglehold on nursing and medical tech fields by having some purposeful attempts at recruiting more men into these fields? By highlighting men in their industry publications and at their conferences?
Responding to this criticism, the organizers tried to show that they stood with all scientists.“Colonization, racism, immigration, native rights, sexism, ableism, *****-, trans-, intersex-phobia, and econ justice are scientific issues,” an organizer tweeted, following with a raised fist and a rainbow emoji. The next day, the group released an updated diversity statement, claiming that issues like sexual harassment, disability, LGBTQIA rights, clean water access, and mass shootings “are scientific issues.”
And... there goes any credibility this event might have had.
I promise you I'm not bs-ing. I have a female entomologist friend who was just told she was being turned down for an interview because she's not a woman of color. Maybe if she brought her spouse-of-color along it would be okay? Seriously, this is out of control.

"Woman of color" IMHO is a PC way of saying "Black" since many Asians have dark skin and many Hispanics are def "white" if talking DNA.
