The Founding Fathers didn't have to deal with an enemy that has the technology that we have today. I got to thinking, if the US government ever got so oppressive that we felt compelled to separate from it (or remove it) 1776 style, what would we be up against? I mean, Facistbook or Twitter would rat us out to "the crown" (just like they're helping Europe and China punish "thought crime") and so would all the corporate data miners. We can't use the postal service because it's run by the feds, so how would we send messages without being intercepted? Even the Dark Web isn't foolproof as the Chinese have managed to block a lot of that.
The federal government doesn't just have armed military, but also armed bureaucracies like the EPA and IRS (and perhaps even the DOE too.)
Plus, even if we DID have the strength and means to overthrow a tyrannical US government, what is to stop ISIS, Russia, Mexico, etc from attacking us and trying to take us over during the civil war?
...I'll play along. First, would not be a revolution..would be a civil war. Second, it's hard to imagine more than a small minority going along with the premise that armed insurrection was both needed and possible.
With those caveats..No..you would not win...unless the Govt. morphed out of recognition. Say..a military coup and martial law..suspension of Habeus Corpus..mass arrests, etc.
We have an armed populace--were the vast majority to rise up..disregard horrific casualties...they could topple most of the govt.--I would expect a scenario where the inner cities and DC would be firmly under the heel..and the rural areas much less so....defenses in depth are much harder to overcome.
But..is basically bad Right wing science fiction. At least for the near future.

Didn't the gun nuts argue that the reason they are armed is to keep the government in check and to prevent the type of scenario you mentioned?
I'd just throw the ball to them and say, "Here, your turn to step up to the plate. Show me how you take down the military with your AR-15."
umm OP it would make great news television for a while as the gov rounded up the few who decide that they can take the law into their hands rather than use elections like everyone else.
doubt it is a fair and honest country?
Look who got in and look how the left did the honorable thing even though we know the Russians helped him and that Trump is the first wholly unfit POTUS in a century.
If were were in a civil war, with half the states in rebellion as in 1860. It would again be a long bloody war, and the winner would depend solely on how the country was divided - what weapons in what states.
If you are speaking of the American revolution where a poor army was fighting against a rich one like GB, the rebels would lose. We barely won the first one and GB was only fighting at partial strength.
If it were a revolution against the government with the revolutionaries holding handguns and rifles and other small arms, they (the revolutionaries) would be slaughtered.
Same way as last time -- a whole bunch of people dying -- one side winning and the other side still resenting it some 157+
