That ship has sailed. Too many people who went without insurance now have had it for four years and are not going to stand for having it taken away from them. Even the GOP knows this is a losing proposition for them, which is why they are so stymied on how to proceed. They have been hearing from their own constituents back in their very red states who don't want to lose their health insurance.
The GOP is pretty much screwed on this issue.
If they want to keep that overpriced crap, they can.
The rest of us don't want that garbage and we damned sure don't want others sponging off of us.
Healthcare profits are not the same as health insurance profits, and that's the problem.

The more choices we have, including to just pay a doctor if you go to a doctor, the more freedom and competition and better service when we aren't all lumped together like at the DMV or Post Office.
More like choosing whichever dentist you want, without big brother as gatekeeper / death panel / middleman.
the vast majority of Americans have policies that cover pre-existing conditions. The only thing ACA did is extend that coverage to individual insured.
Simplest way out is to extend single payer to all. Actually saves some money. And we no longer have to deal with any of these problems like pre-existing conditions. And the time may be right as the Republicans find they have no good alternative.
No they did not have coverage that covered pre existing conditions, if you have a condition that you acquired while you were insured and then switched insurance then that's not considered preexisting as long as you can show proof of continuous coverage that is markedly different than health plans must cover preexisting conditions.
Her husband's employer changed the comapnjy health insurance provider. The new company considered she had a pre existing condition and would not insure her cancer.
She had a o get radi ion from the state. It was a 2 hour drive each way.
So if people have a kid who just happens to be born with asthma or allergies--it will cost them $600 more a month? That is ridiculous.
Bad enough scumbag hedge funds are gouging prescriptions and epi-pens.
Health care should NOT be a for-profit industry. Period.
Life's not fair. It's not supposed to be. And no amount of legislation will change that.
And healthcare is not a right, and especially not a right to be paid for by others. It's a consumer service. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't have it. I'm just saying that I, as a taxpayer, should not be involved in any way providing your consumer services. If you counter with the worn out argument "but people will die without it", I'll have to ask "Will people who get it live forever?"
Get the middle man out of healthcare. Insurance companies making a profit off of our sickness and misfortunes is immoral. And their greed for more, more, more is what drives the cost of healthcare ever higher. We don't need them, and healthcare would be much more cost effective without them. I'd rather send what I pay in premiums every year to the federal government as a tax and have Medicaid for all than send it into the pocket of some greedy insurance exec, who is going to do everything he can to make sure I don't get the services I'm paying for.
WHY don't normal folks realize.. the capitalism involved with HC insurance actually increases Premiums... never mind their check points of doubling certain coverages IF HIGH risk! Anyone can see when trying to gain LIFE Insurance.. Premiums double and Triple..or gets denied or has years of premium payments BEFORE payable! Then and only then there is still NO guarantee you get the payout... Insurance Companies ALWAYS have fine print to be able to DENY payouts!!!
HC should never be a Pon to leverage HIGH price premiums nor a rationale to deny coverages. With a Citizen population of over 670,000,000 + who may required some HC WHY should any handful of Corporate Insurance EXECTS make multi-millions on the backs of true Humanity needs.
USA preaches/demands Humanity treatment of foreign Countries ( Called Values).. Yet treat their own like DIRT and Corporate heads make billions of profit!
HC is nothing more than humanitarian care ( considered Fascist/Cummunistic/Socialism/name it as some sort of SLUR)... Making HC a business model is nothing more than using human's as some sort of tool.. Hospitals may treat.. BUT hyper-Price any care to either pilfer Insurance companies or charge back to Government for TAX Credits!!
I have no idea why USA wants to maintain such a system.. ACA tried/ but after 6 years.. GOP refused to attempt fixes.. Politics blocks fixes.. as Lobbyists want to maintain their perks of tax breaks.. Meanwhile consumers of HC get SCREWED!!
Is America truly a Country for anybody who works hard can get ahead.. Obviously The rich gets richer and regular citizens haven't for a VERY VERY LONG TIME! Something is wrong here!!
