Do you ever wonder if this whole deal was a set up to reveal Republicans for fools?
It really isn't all Republicans. It is a faction most long time Republicans are not comfortable with.
In fact many Trump supporters were first-time voters and their connections to the Republican party are tenuous. I expect that the whole group will calve off if or when Trump loses the re-nomination for 2020.
But I agree that it makes the party, and everyone associated with it, look ridiculous.
