$10/month for the average driver. WOW -- that's crazy isn't it -- that's like 33 cents a day to pay for infrastructure repairs.
WOW - whoa -- how will they manage.
California's support for this regressive , another gas tax is that all the millions of illegals will taxpaying this tax too. California likes giving free stuff away to illegals stuck as free or reduced college tuition bit this gas tax is different. Maybe California is growing tired of squeezing a few to pay for illegals.

Living here in California can't say I like paying more in fuel taxes but would rather pay at that end than having to take my vehicle in to replace the suspension after a drive across the cobblestone that fronts as roads.
I believe the labor rate for mechanics is somewhere in the neighborhood of $125 an hour, then add parts and your looking at some serious expense.
Here in South Carolina we are hoping our state legislators will implement a fuel tax for the roads.
So far hard lined Republicans are refusing and our infrastructures are crumbling. These guys would rather have us all on gravel roads dodging sink holes rather than raise funds to fix the roads. I don't know where they think the money is going to come from. Maybe they think Daddy Donald will fork up some big bucks for infrastructure repairs. So far we have seen little promise of this
Sounds about right. SC is already wanting the feds to pay for the construction of I-73 from Myrtle Beach to NC, so it would make sense they want the feds to pay for repairs to existing roads as well.
This board sure does care about what happens in California day to day, lol. What's the matter? Does your flyover state not get enough press?
Lol, my home state (NC) got enough press over the last year thanks to the sorry excuse of a (former) governor, but not for the right reasons. I'm glad NC is finally off the headlines for a change.
California's governor and other democrats keep pointing to California as fiscally normal and these crazy fuel taxes highlight just what normal looks like in California. California is still hung up about that popular vote thing.
Eh, it's happening everywhere. Most of these taxes haven't been increased in many years.
Even here in Indiana, our Republican-controlled legislature just passed a $.10/gallon increase in the gas tax and it was signed into law by our Republican governor.
INDIANAPOLIS - It won’t be long until Hoosiers feel the costs and benefits of a $1.2 billion highway improvement plan Gov. Eric Holcomb signed into law Thursday afternoon.
Starting July 1, Hoosiers will pay an extra 10 cents per gallon gas tax to help pay for roads plan. The tax at the pump will rise to 28 cents a gallon..
Hoosiers also will pay more fees at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, starting in January. Under the roads plan approved by state lawmakers this past week, registration fees for most vehicles will rise by $15.
