Am I the only one that has noticed USPS consistently delivering packages late? UPS and FedEx seem to be getting it right.
What if we just let USPS die of natural causes? I'm talking about not keep putting it on life support. If they can't deliver mail and packages on time, what's the point of keeping it around?
FEDEX is a pain, they expect someone to be home for all deliveries and then tell you that it will be there sometime between 8 am and 8 pm. My USPS carrier is here within an hour of the same time daily.
Never had a problem with USPS. They might be one or two days late on occasion but to me that's not a big deal. Their primary purpose is to deliver non-package mail.
I noticed UPS and Fedex are getting late as well. But I don't blame it on the carriers as much as the tremendous demand placed on them due to the massive shift to online retail.
Get rid of USPS and watch prices increase on FEDEX and UPS.
Let them increase based on market value. I don't think we have to worry too much about it because very powerful commercial entities also ship stuff, too. Let the market decide.
I'm so sick of paying premium prices for USPS only to see delays in delivery. Just let it compete with the private market and if it can't fix whatever the hell that's causing it to keep delivering things on time, then let it face the consequences like other commercial entities.

If you're recommending they be left to die, I suggest you consider just letting them privatize.
USPS is not really a competitor to UPS and FedEx. Right now they have obligations-such as universal service and funding of pensions-which UPS and FedEx do not have. They also have limits-such as not being allowed to raise stamp rates even when it makes sense-that are stopping them from being competitive with UPS and FedEx.
I doubt they would win head to head competition without limits-but they *certainly* won't win if you keep all the restrictions but fail to give them the opportunity to fairly compete.

Then remove those restrictions. Heck, privatize it. Whatever it takes.
For only $0.49 I get next day delivery in my city.
Fedex and UPS can't do that.
