Yeah. And there you have the ultimate result of coerced collectivism. They are probably living in a flat with no power, starving to death. Breaking the statue is the only recourse they have left--and of course, they get ran over in the process.
Chaos, one of the highest crime rates in the world, out of control rates of inflation, lack of basics like sugar and milk and toilet paper in a country with the largest oil reserves in the world. Maybe hopefully all the left wingers like Sean Penn, Chomsky, Oliver Stone, Naomi Campbell who loved chavez and maduro so much can help Venezuelans out, Malibu is a sanctuary city.
There has been a significant increase in the Dutch military and police presence on the neighboring islands of the Dutch Caribbean in recent weeks. The end of the Venezuelan regime is near and they are preparing for refugees.
i used to spend hours arguing with ardent fans of oogo chavez here.
now they all seem to have wandered away
Venezuela is probably set to explode into civil war at any time now.
Whoever wins that civil war will probably get rid of the opposition, permanently. I don't see how the Venezuelan can retain power. he Venezuelan government has oil, but nothing else. How exactly do they expect to pay the common soldier or police officer when the money runs out at end of the year?
Venezuela's highest-ever oil production was the last year that Hugo Chávez was elected president of Venezuela. Chávez then fired 19,000 employees of the state oil company, 40% of its workforce, and replaced them with employees loyal to his government and party who were not capable of running it. His whole party is and was just total nepotism
The firings eliminated alot of experience from Venezuela's oil industry, then he nationalized and seized the assets of many of the foreign oil companies and now its in total freefall
Chavez called his ideology "Socialism of the 21st Century." But it was more akin to what political scientist Terry Lynn Karl dubbed "petrolization" -- making the spending of oil money your government's main purpose, even after the oil money starts to run out. Insane , this was, and could be, one of the wealthiest countries in Latin Amerca
Can we send Bernie Sanders down there to straighten them out? Didn't he tell us how great they are in their socialist state?
We dodged a bullet there.
