This bill was introduced by Democrat John Conyers and doesn't have a lot of hope to pass, but maybe those of use who want it should be calling our representatives to see if we can get them on board. It's in Committee now, btw, but does not have a lot of hope of being enacted. There are 108 co-sponsors, mostly democrats.

‘Medicare for All’ would cover everyone, save billions in first year: new study | Physicians for a National Health Program

Quote:
“Paradoxically, by expanding Medicare to everyone we’d end up saving billions of dollars annually,” he said. “We’d be safeguarding Medicare’s fiscal integrity while enhancing the nation’s health for the long term.”

Friedman said the plan would be funded by maintaining current federal revenues for health care and imposing new, modest tax increases on very high income earners. It would also be funded by a small increase in payroll taxes on employers, who would no longer pay health insurance premiums, and a new, very small tax on stock and bond transactions.

If you are talking John Conyers of Michigan, he is a proud DEMOCRAT.

Repubs hate single payer because they are in the pocket of Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Big Business.

Right now, but maybe if enough of us call our congressmen, it can be revived. I prefer to be an optimist.

Um, the Bill was written by Physicians for Nazi Healthcare, so of course they'll say charming things about it.

Why don't you actually read the bill, so you can understand why it has no hope of passing?

Pay special attention to Sections 103 & 104 and also Section 201.

Medicare is broke, it's a little late to be blathering about safeguarding it's fiscal integrity.

Funny how people hate private insurance co's, but think letting the govt. run a health insurance scheme is the way to go.

As an expat now in Mexico, I can take advantage of one of the two Mexican health care plans. One is free for everyone; the other is low-cost and less crowded than the free plan. It will cost me the equiv. of 30 USD per month. The premium is based on age. Cost shown are in pesos PER YEAR by AGE RANGE. Currently 1 USD buys 19.05 pesos.

Rango de edad Cuota Anual
0-19 $ 2,700
20-29 $ 3,200
30-39 $ 3,400
40-49 $ 4,750
50-59 $ 5,050
60-69 $ 7,300
70-79 $ 7,650
80 y más $ 7,700
