Why Trumponomics won’t make America great again

Quote:
Mr Trump’s plan for the economy. It treats orthodoxy, accuracy and consistency as if they were simply to be negotiated away in a series of earth-shattering deals. Although Trumponomics could stoke a mini-boom, it, too, poses dangers to America and the world.

http://www.economist.com/news/leader...nomy-well-rule

The article discusses how Trump's Economic nationalism, his old fashioned supply side economics are dangerous and likely to lead us into the same dumb problems yet again.

My guess is that Trump is willing to throw our nation's future under the bus to try to get 3% growth (much lower than he promised yet still risky)

they perfectly describe Trump's economic plans as decades out of date. THIS is why trump supporters should be worried, they and most of the US pop will see little or nothing out of this kind growth.

worth the read.

I think in general the nation has been on a downward trajectory since 2000.

When one considers all the employment opportunities, housing costs and quality of life in the country back then compared to now for the majority of the nation there is no comparison.

I think in general debt and deficits are due to skyrocket regardless of political party. It has been ignored since 2000 and will be ignored now matter what party is in office.

They just go from bubble to bubble and deficits on top of deficits just to keep the nation from falling into a recession but the bigger and bigger the bubble and bigger and bigger the deficits get, the worse the next downturn will be.

Fortified by his belief that his extraordinary route to power is proof of the collective mediocrity of Congress, the bureaucracy and the media,

It really pretty much is. Trump never comes close if the above wasn't true.

there is a very real chance we will hit the bubble of everything. If Trump tries to "boost" or juice the economy in order to deliver he may well tip us into a hell hole of trouble. Short termism is destroying the nation.

This, unfortunately, has been true for a while.

There's an army of people out there trying to de-legitimize Trump. Reminds me of the economists and "experts" who ALL said the stock market was gonna crash if Trump got elected.

if we are going to repair this economy the very first thing that needs to happen is getting government spending under control.
the next thing that needs to happen is raising interest rates slowly to get the peoples spending under control.

we have been going from bubble to bubble since the clinton administration, starting with the tech bubble, then the housing bubble, coupled with the auto loan bubble, and now we are floating the student loan bubble. this also needs to stop.

and this isnt going to be easy either since we have been doing it for so long now that a lot of people have grown up with this kind of kick the can down the road economics.

and i think trump recognizes this and is trying to do something about it. he wants to reform the tax code and he wants to bring spending under control. unfortunately congress is going to work against him at every turn.
