Assuming he really didn't do anything illegal, Trump would have been WAY better off just leaving Comey in for a while longer and actually consulting with smart people in his campaign for the right timing to fire him once the investigation reached a public milestone that got him out of the woods.

Politics ain't beanbag. President Obama didn't whine when the right wing media went after him for eight years, he put his head down and did the job. Something this president has yet to do. He has both Houses of Congress right now and has not a single piece of legislation under his belt. When does he stop his incessant whining and actually start doing his job?
