Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that a search warrant had been executed for the hotel rooms for which the burglars had keys, and that inside one of them were address books that listed Howard Hunt's name or initials, and included the hand-written notation, "WH," for White House. Official reaction was swift. From the White House, Nixon's Press Secretary, Ron Zeigler, dismissed the incident as some sort of petty thievery attempt. John Mitchell, the head of CREEP, denied that the organization had any connection to the event. These public denials were lies. In fact, an elaborate cover-up was already under way. The charge that would stem from the cover-up, "obstruction of justice," would eventually bring Nixon down.

It's only been six months but people have forgotten just how shocking and devastating Hillary's loss was in November. Democrats needed an excuse, any excuse to latch onto and somehow the Russian fairy tale became it. Democrats spun this incredible lie out of illegally leaked intelligence information from Obama administration officials, used the media to keep fleshing it out and are now demanding and getting investigations into their original lie. It's mind-boggling.

I would only add two things.
First, that the Republicans are behind this, too. They hate Trump as much as the Democrats hate him. The Republican leadership could stop these investigations in Congress but refuse to do so. You have people like Lindsey Graham and John McCain doing the Democrats' dirty work for them.
Second, the appointment of a special counsel is a dangerous thing for Trump, because he can be tripped up even if he did nothing wrong to begin with. That happened to Scooter Libby in the phony Valerie Plame investigation.
Again, we see the Republicans being weak if not outright working against Trump. Sessions never should have recused himself. Rosenstein never should have appointed a special counsel.
My hope is that Muller will find nothing on Trump and move on to the real criminals -- Obama, Hillary, Bill, Loretta, Eric, etc.
