Sorry Germany needs us a hell of a lot more than we need Germany. She can pout all she wants. Germany does not dictate to the United States. The United States tells Germany what we want. If Germany doesn't like it then they can go their own way. America first!!! The apology tour is over!!

If you have the knowledge and insight to answer both those questions then you should be able to reach a conclusion.

Also, you're assuming that Merkel is not posturing for internal politics, something that is extremely likely imo.
Well since that guy in the WH appears to want a divorce with Germany it is a good question.

In 2016 Germany purchased 50 billion dollars of stuff from the US.

However, Germans also purchased real estate and made financial investments and lent money.

I wonder where that guy in the WH would be without Deutsch Bank.

So what...they made deals involving the US just to be nice? Or was there some sort of financial incentive to do so? Are they just going to completely take their toys and go home even if it means leaving money on the table?

Let's see so far Trump has hurt relations with the following allies:
Mexico
Canada
Great Briton
Germany
Israel
Turkey
Name any European Country
Yes he is doing wonders for our place in the world, soon we will be America First and America Alone.
It will take decades to undo the damage the Golden Boy has already inflicted on this Nation and he still has a while to go before he is gone, maybe WWIII is in our future, such as it will be.

The world was used to Obama's weakness. Well we are the United States. We need to stop worrying about other countries feelings! If they feel all butt hurt over things then too bad!!!! They need us a hell of a lot more than we need them!!!

I think it is extremely short-sighted to think that the US can bully its way back to greatness. It can't. Germany is one of our most valued trade partners, and the largest economy in the European union. They are an open, tolerant society with a wealth of educational institutions and highly skilled workers. Their military may not be as imposing as Russia's or China's, but they are a serious force to be reckoned with. We will be sad if we do not have them in our corner if a serious crisis arises.

That guy in the WH is destroying relationships built over decades.

If you don't see it as bad let's see if others do.
You think Volkswagon or Mercedes cares about US funding of NATO or Merkyl's rhetoric? So long as its profitible to make or sell cars in the US, they will. Period.

German tourists? Maybe tourism will actually increase as Germans flock to see what a country not cucking radical Islam looks like?

What would Germany do if a crisis broke out and the US wasn't in their corner? Willing to throw it all away over some perceived "bullying".

Default Merkel Says Europe Can No Longer Rely Upon *Others*, Must Take Future Fate Into Their Own Hands.

Three guesses who Frau Merkel is referring as "others".
