To work on vacation or not?

58.8% of workers that took vacation did some work while on vacation. Some was as simple as checking and responding to emails and phone messages for work. 12.3% said they spent as much time working as they normally do.

For what it is worth:

Men were twice as likely to work on vacation than women.

Republicans were more likely to work on vacation than Democrats or Independents.

College educated people were more likely to work as well.

If you are a Republican, male, with a college degree you statistically are highly likely to work on vacation.

Or seemingly nearly every president in the modern era thread. But funny though...he does go to Florida too much IMHO.

When I was still working I was self-employed. Could not afford a vacation.

The occasional email. Now that I'm full-time freelance, I'll do a lot more work on vacation.

Sure, I work on vacation, but I bill for every hour when I do.

My emails are always kept up with. I also always bring my laptop around incase I need it, which happens sometimes.

My wife will work on vacation - but keep track of her hours and then take back vacation time equivalent to what she works. The president of the company lets her get away with it.

I guess I'm in luck, I can't work when on vacation. But we do discuss future plans on where we want to take our business and how to expand. So I'm not sure how to vote. I'm self employed so part of my mind is almost always on work.

EDIT: male, no college degree, self employed, independent centrist
