So does anyone think that if Israel had lost that war and been wiped from the map that we wouldn't be seeing the rise of Islamic extremists who are behind most of the terrorist attacks nowadays?
If Israel had lost the war, there would be no Palestine either. It would've been sliced up. The Muslims would've started the annihilation of the Christians in the region. After which the Sunni vs Shia war would've started up using the left over arms from WW2. What's happening now in Europe may have started many decades earlier.
I only look at the Six Day War's impact on US...the only country I care about.
Israel did what it felt it had to do. Good on them I suppose. The Arabs came out of it in a much worse position. Too bad for them. I've never quite understood the reasons for that war, and I don't really trust what I've read in the history books on the matter, NOR do I buy the official accounts that I've heard coming out of the mouths of the leaders on all sides. Especially white hat and black hat arguments. The whole thing comes off as very nefarious.
That said, the only thing that matters to me is the implication that the United States put their fingers on the scales in a major way somehow in that conflict. How much truth there is in that assertion isn't clear to me, but it almost doesn't seem to matter in the Arab World where they think we were in up to our eyeballs. I don't know if that's true, but that opinion persists quite stubbornly. I'd sure like to know.
What would've happened if Israel had lost? Seems like a moot point because there's no way that Israel would've put all their chips on the table without knowing they couldn't lose. I don't believe that there was ever a scintilla of a chance that they could've lost that war. All the i's were dotted and all the t's were crossed well in advance. They aren't stupid. It all played out just like it was supposed to.
But if by some miracle, Israel had lost, the Arabs would've carved up Palestine and picked it apart. End of Palestine.

Good points!
