Comey told President Trump that he was not under investigation. However, if Trump was not under investigation for the Russia stuff or anything like it, then why did Obama wiretap Trump Towers and spy on him and his associates if he wasn't under an investigation? You aren't supposed to go spying on private citizens without cause. So Obama just violated the 4th Amendment and did something just as bad, and likely worse, than Richard Nixon.
The fact that Comey just told Trump that he wasn't under investigation yet was being spied upon by Obama yet Comey did nothing about it is cause enough in and of itself to fire Comey.
However, now, the same Left that, just prior to the firing, was trashing Comey and blaming him for Hillary losing is now making him a martyr and claiming that his firing was a coverup.
Methinks that the REAL coverup is the Deep State and the media covering up the Obamagate spying on Trump and that all these hearing are distractions to:
1.) Make President Trump look bad and cast doubt on him in the hopes of using it to take back the House in 2018.
2.) To divert attention away from Obama's wrongdoings.
The fact that Comey is now claiming that Trump made him say that he wasn't under investigation, which isn't what he said earlier, should be enough to have Comey busted for lying under oath and taken off the so-called investigation into President Trump.
Perhaps Comey can join Reality Winner in the slammer. Perhaps one of them will spill the beans on President Otraitor. Hopefully we can get President-wannabe Pant Suit also thrown in the brig along with Obama.

This why Comey wanted to testify in public. He tried to play both sides and jammed himself up good and don't think for a minute he doesn't know what the Clinton body count is. He wasn't investigated. The FBI has stated the reason Trump Tower was bugged was because they were spying on a Russian crime organization that was using Trump Tower. They weren't wiretapping Trump with this.
The complete derangement and beleif in fake news that the OP represents is EXACTLY why so many think Trump is unfit. Because he makes the same baseless claims with no actual factual reality to back him up.

At the House Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey and NSA Director Mike Rogers both deny that there was any information supporting Trump’s allegations in his original tweet.

Just because Trump wasn't the target doesn't mean that those associated with Trump were not. Its pretty clear that Flynn's actions had been picked up by the intelligence agencies.
Not criminal, but damning. FBI should be focused on law enforcement, not loyalty.
