Why would Trump need to be on Twitter or Facebook to conduct a press conference? Why would anyone in his administration need Facebook or Twitter to tell the country what is going on?

Trump is too busy trying to save his hide. Besides he really doesn't care about anyone not named Trump.

Trump isn't going to say squat. Holding a press conference could trap him if he inadvertently says something he should not say.
He knows he is a blabbermouth, so he's not going to say anything now.
And the Capitol building has just been trashed by a huge mob!
Some of the mob was seen stealing cameras and gear, while others in the mob smashed other cameras, computers and gear.
The Capitol is now a crime scene. No one has the proclivity nor the proper location at the moment to hold a press conference. Even the press itself has other priorities, as the Capitol press corps suffered big damages too. At least one of the corps went to the hospital.

The entire point of the Tech folks censoring the President of the United States was to keep him from communicating. I figured the Leftists would soon be whining because they haven’t heard from him.

The FBI is making press releases daily, you can see them at fbi.gov. Biden had a press conference announcing cabinet picks on Friday, and took questions and addressed the historic attacks.
The White House isn't involved in the round up of the MAGA terrorists, naturally. And they haven't done press conferences where questions could be asked in a long time. Also everyone knows a Trump press conference would be a disaster right now.
The DoJ, FBI and HSA seem to be reporting to Pence now, their heads I think are mostly "acting" ones and not the Trump appointed ones that he asked to resign. So they probably don't feel the authority to hold a press conference representing their departments.
Pence might hold a press conference if he decides to take action with the 25th amendment.

Twitter isn't a substitute for a press conference, and Trump's press conferences always were disasters because he'd be called out on lies every time. He'd get frustrated that reporters weren't sucking up to him like all his advisors and supporters, and basically just walk out. Then he stopped doing them altogether, well before the Jan 6th terrorist attack on the Capitol.

mceneny did hold one conference where she read a statement which basically stated the WH didn't approve of the riot and then she took off without answering any questions.
