So, it's my understanding that for California to have healthcare for each person in their state covered with a single payer program, it would cost $400 billion.

Since there are about 40 million people in California, that would be roughly $10,000 per person or $40,000 per family of four each year.

Is this considered a good deal to you?

It wouldn't be here but I'm not in California where everything costs more.

Let's just hope the rest of the country doesn't follow CA's lead!

that would be an amazingly good deal for my family. We have good coverage but it basically requires $12,000 out of pocket, and my employer pays over double that amount on their end. So even if I had to pay a little more in taxes I would be getting some back in basic compensation, plus I would be happy that everyone of my fellow citizens had healthcare coverage.

My employer plus my portion of the premium pays far more than that per person/family (and did before the ACA as well, for that matter) for a large group plan.

Does it matter? Current plans are family inclusive which cover regardless of how many children I have.
But since you're being a neb noser, even if I had to pay the full $10,000 through taxes I would still be coming out better financially.

Just me.

Coworkers who are married and choose to have just a spouse, no kids on their plan pay just as much as coworkers with 5 kids, though. It seems that this plan ceases forcing childless couples or couples with one child to subsidize those who choose to have more.

But since you're being a neb noser, there are three of us. So even if I had to pay the full $10,000 through taxes I would still be coming out better financially.
