Busy store. Smart management. Also cut stockers hours, employee headcount in departments, etc with that higher MW lefties love.
Other countries with far higher labor costs for cashiers still have cashiers. Dont worry about that. People have been fearing technology for 250 years now. People used to be mad at the tractor as well.

I'm sure the laid off US cashiers take heart in that news. They should relocate to other countries. Problem solved.

I don't like North American tipping culture.

It should be the employer's responsibility to ensure their employees are paid a decent wage. The customer should not be expected to cover what the employer should.

Tipping should be a completely independent choice, rather than a choice primarily influenced by cultural pressure.

If wait staff mw was raised to full MW, the restaurants would simply raise all menu prices to cover that, plus the added employer taxes.

Yes there should be a minimum wage, but no it shouldn't be a livable wage. Our current federal minimum wage isn't bad, every decade or so it should be adjusted considering inflation and cost of living. The free market will determine the majority of wages, the minimum wage laws make sure no one is using slave labor. Minimum wage isn't unreasonable and that's why the majority of Republicans and business owners support a minimum wage. The only real debate is how much the minimum wage should be. I personally oppose a $15 federal minimum wage, that's too high out here in the Great Plains, but $8-10 an hour isn't unreasonable. 90% of people already make more then that.

The people who oppose any minimum wage are probably the same people who oppose public education, why even debate with them. It's like Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation.

Yes, everyone should take heart in the news that mass layoffs because of higher minimum wage and evil machines is just scaremongering from the shills of the ruling class. Example after example from the rest of the world doesnt show this at all.
