They could have saved themselves a lot of trouble by leaving the statues alone, nothing good will come by escalating conflicts.

It gives a clear MESSAGE that their ideology and agenda isn't part of the new millennium !! Racists and folks who hate any other race because they are NOT LIKE them should have been done with so long ago!! It's part of the American history that is PAST and much has been done is still being done to try and rectify such a shameful period of American History...

Unfortunately, their ideology has been re-ignited .. and they are coming out of the woodwork and somehow feel they have the main stage now. Why is that? Simple answer.. TY> Trump for unleashing these KKK/Nationalists/Anarchists that encourage/allows them to feel valid in 2016 and since progressed!!

Sounds about right. There are fewer than 10k members of the KKK in the entire country (thank God). 30 showing up is actually a huge crowd for them these days.

It's their right to be total idiots and white robed racist fools, as long as they didn't hurt anyone in the process.

There's two sides of the same bigoted and hateful coin as far as I'm concerned.

It will always comedown what is Right and Wrong and who has suffered due to their Station in Life over the centuries! Those who want to live in the PAST and remain firm on their views from about a century ago and never evolved.. doesn't give credence to balance of BLAME and who is more worthy of claiming it!!

Just maybe.. those who have been suffering .. may have a real "Bone to Pick" and those anarchists, that want to go back to the pre-"Civil Right's era have suffered what??? Other than their agenda and ideology all based on OLD Segregationist ideology .. and need to be seen as BETTER than those "Thugs/Lazy" folks still hasn't awaited since the mid '60's!! The only reason for that is the parent's and family have indoctrinated them to believe in this!!

BLM isn't perfect and yes.. Outside criminal's infiltrate peaceful protestors.. and create havoc.. and of COURSE that BROAD brush comes out to paint the WHOLE NOTION of whatever the latest messaging machine wants to propagandize !!

Yes, I will never paint either side as pure of heart.. But such outright Broad brushing has somehow become the norm.. and yep.. both sides do it. We, are in the age of NO Political Correctness now.. Thanks to DJT! Maybe you all best get use to it!!

True, we could all avoid a lot of trouble by never changing anything. The problem is that we would then be inviting all kinds of other trouble.

I guess it comes down to which trouble we prefer to have. Or in this case, which trouble the municipality concerned prefers to have. I am sure there many confederate memorials and museums all over the south that are not on publicly-owned lands, and that many of them would be very happy to give a home to a statue of Lee.
