Ratings Collapse: CNN Now Losing To Nick-At-Nite In Prime Time Ratings War

How embarrassing! But who wouldn't want to watch that adorable little scamp say "you're in big trouble, mister" rather than watch Chris Cuomo whine about not getting camera time at press briefings.

Quote:
Last week, more Americans tuned in to watch re-runs of “Yogi Bear,” “Full House,” and “Friends” on Nick At Nite than to watch Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon’s shows on CNN.

According to cable ratings from the week of June 26-July 2, CNN’s viewership of its primetime shows was ranked significantly lower than its competitors like Fox News and MSNBC, which place first and second respectively. Clocking in at No. 10 on the list, CNN fell behind HGTV, Nick At Nite, History Channel, and ESPN — the sports network that’s been hemorrhaging viewers for months.

An episode of full house is probably more likely to contain real news than CNN.

Popularity does necessarily equal quality.

ie any Pop Singer can be popular but they're not likely Aretha.

CNN has attempted to become an activist organization dressed up as a cable news network.

In doing so, they have run afoul of several of Saul Alinsky's rules.

#4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

Trump broke all the rules by winning. He won by representing the people Alinskyites falsely claim to represent. CNN and their parent organization, the DNC, seem to still think they can bull **** working Americans at will. Welcome to the age of the Internet.

#5 “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Trump appears to be unmoved by ridicule.

#7 “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.”

Tell me about it!

#8 “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.”

This one only matters if #1, #4, #5, #9 and #11 are in play. They are not.

#10 "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."

See #8

#12“The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”

The alternative has been presented and rejected numerous times.

#13 “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

Here is where the left displays their undiluted political schizophrenia. The people they are supposed to be supporting (working-class nobodies) are the people being attacked.

1. “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.
2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.
3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.
7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.
8. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
10. "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition." It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.
11. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.
12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.
13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Even worse for CNN - being beat by a low quality rerun of a SITCOM.

"Unmoved". Truer words have never been spoken. I remember watching the 2011 White House Correspondent's Dinner where both Obama and Seth Meyers continually went after Trump. While everyone around him was laughing hysterically, Trump was sitting there, stone-faced. You could just see the gears turning in his head as he probably thought "yeah, laugh now...".

EDIT: I wonder how Seth Meyers feels knowing that this was probably the moment when Trump really decided to run for President. He should have just minded his own business. LOL

Guy, CNN has no "quality," except poor. It is proven fake news, and the debate is over.

The fake Russian Dossier...claiming Comey would contradict Trump...the eventual revelation that Trump was never investigated and they had relentlessly pushed a fake story...the three reporters resigning over the Scarmucci story...the final admition that they are "mostly bull****" to get ratings.

It's over. If you don't understand this, then you are in denial and need serious help and introspection This is as settled as a matter can be:

Still Rachel Maddow's ratings continue to blow Fox out of the water. Scoreboard: Thursday, July 6 | TVNewser

If you're trying to make some kind of point re ratings, you can't ignore Maddow dominating the coveted 9PM Eastern slot. It's not just a one off, her winning streak, as the No. 1 watched cable news network show, has been going on for a few months now.

~shrug~ I seldom watch any cable news networks, the ups and downs are mysteries to me. If there's some kind of buzz about a particular segment on one of the networks, I can always catch it online the next day.
