I think that there may be a correlation between flat-earthers and creationists. A similar mind-set.
Something like holocaust deniers, or climate change deniers. Willful ignorance.
Creationism attaches itself more to extreme religious indoctrination.
Flat earth types, it seem, are more the super anti-government types. Because the government says this is true, it must not be true. Because gubment=bad.
Immediately followed by the "How to tax and regulate each and every single thing a person does because the climate changes" conference.
The policy ideas and the science are two different things. The former is flexible, the latter is what it is. Man-made climate change is happening, we have to address it. If most Republicans didnt have their heads stuck in the sand, they too could be part of the potential policy discussions which will shape our future.

Flat Earthers are just like Holocaust deniers and Confederate defenders. People who are angry at the world. "Alternative facts" is just a way of rebelling against society. Being willfully wrong just for the sake of it.

Add to it the KKK, Women's March participants, Hillary supporters, Trump supporters, BLM, communists, marxists, stalinists, left wing extremists, right wing extremists, etc. People who are so narrow focused, they cannot comprehend other view points at all, and they create their entire identity around just one or two issues, in which they they will ensure the issues stay around forever.
