That is a complete misrepresentation. They could not serve as an openly Gay or Lesbian under Clinton's DADT.

10s of 1000s were tossed out over the Clinton policy. Most often without an Honorable Discharge would would further haunt them with future employment, schools, loans, etc. DADT was a horrible practice.

No, it should not be reinstated. I also think it's unlikely that it will be.

It is not a misrepresentation, since the policy did not ban anyone from serving.

It's not going to be reinstated nor should it be.

It would be a huge mess, you have many openly gay men and women today, in the army, and some hold high positions, the military would not accept the dismissal of thousands of comrades, and many would sue the state

There is nothing wrong with being LGBT in the military. Nothing.

The trans thing is about money and accommodation. It's like having no teeth and joining the army to get the military to pay for your dental work only the sex change process is way more expensive, time consuming and you can't be stationed in the middle of nowhere in the middle east while you are undergoing it.

As far as I can tell, just being gay in the military doesn't cost anyone anything extra.

If I'm wrong, someone correct me.

No, but if you told your fellow soldier that you took your same sex significant other out the other night, you could be kicked out with a dishonorable discharge.

Put another way, its like having no money to go to college and joining the military to get them to pay for your college education.

Oh wait....
