Just curious, we all know the famous stores about the Italian mob, and they have had quite a lot of power, in their home countries, in the states, on political benches and whatnot, and they have been around for a very long time. Then there is the MS-13 gang members which are a huge threat to national security, and pretty much destroyed their home country of El Salvadore. Which of the two are more dangerous and have had more of an influence on things? Will the MS-13 gang be brought down eventually, or will they just fade to the back but still be a silent threat like the Italian mob is still to this day?

Italian mafia is stronger. MS-13 is not silent; do not practice omerta. Italian mafia you have the 'Ndrangheta, Camorra, Cosa Nostra, Sacra Corona Unita, and Stidda. Some would say destroyed their country.

It's pretty dangerous to be a journalist in Russia. They didn't even join a gang and they are trying to do their jobs. But some get killed under mysterious circumstances. Lots of them.

They are both scum and parasites; but at least the "Italian" mob had (or has) some principles. Namely women and children aren't touched except in extreme circumstances. Ditto for totally innocent persons.

Meanwhile the Russians, Eastern European and various Latino-Hispanic "mobs" don't give a flying *()**&; they will shoot/kill who or whom ever.

Despite the famous bakery scene from the Sopranos; real "wise guys" don't go around shooting store clerks for showing "disrespect".

I grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn when it was 90%+ Italian and one of the primary nerve centers of Cosa Nostra. Street crime, such as muggings, rapes, knockout game assaults against the elderly, open drug use/sales in front of schools, etc was virtually non-existent. In fact, any lowlife animals (especially certain types coming into Bensonhurst from outside the neighborhood) committing such crimes would very likely themselves end up the victim of some horrific act.

Contrast that with the Third-World, scum-filled toliets all MS-13 infested areas are. My grandmother could walk down any street in Bensonhurst at 3AM in 1980 and be completely safe. Do you think that's possible today in any MS-13 dominated pus-pocket?

Who is more dangerous? The question should be, which organization is manned by humans, and which one by lowlife, third world, tiny-brained hominids?

I never really undertood the glamourisation of gangsters, and especially the Italian American Mafia.

The Mafia in Italy is hated in much of Italy, however the Italians did clampdown and it's not what it once was, just as the US Italian Mafia is not what it once was.

In terms of MS-13 they seem to be across between a street gang and a more traditional mafia organisation, so this might mean the US Authorities will have to change their response.

In terms of Europe, the East European Gangs including Bulgarians and Albanians, Russian Mafia and the Turkish and Kurdish Mafias (who run the heroein trade) are especially nasty, whilst Romanians speciaise in pick pocketing, credit card fraud and ATM Cash Machine Fraud.

Heroin trade continues to claim lives as UK drug gangs compete for power - Guardian

It's funny to see people glamorizing criminals in Trump's era of law and order.
