Slavery was a contentuous issue since colonization began. In the North, it was always viewed with disdain - similar to how we viewed 10 year old kids in Bangladesh stitching our Nike shoes back in the '90s. Few liked the institution of slavery, but for most part looked the other way until the Civil War

I still don't understand people trying to defend their "heritage". The South lost. Get over it. They committed the worst act of treason against America by launching a Civil War against the US of A. They fought to preserve a gross violation of human rights against millions of African Americans. It doesn't get more cartoonishly villain than that. The Confederates are on par with the Nazis or ISIS as the dregs of humanity

We should remove all Confederate statues and monuments across this great, multicultural nation and place them in the "traitors" section of a historical museum

Exactly I'd rather have a statue of MLK in a museum being guarded under lock and key with his in exhibit than out in some park. And quite a few museums are non profit no whining about cost is irrelevant.

There are such things as "outdoor museums".

The last time I checked, MLK wasn't trying to enslave anyone

I too wish the Confederate statues to be relocated to Museums so that they can be viewed in context.

Plus, in a museum those who don't wish to view them don't have to, unlike in a public park or square.

I think the Confederate statues should be put in an outdoor Traitor's Museum. It could be located somewhere in a swamp in the South and then the Nazis could hold their torchlight marches there and be eaten up by mosquitoes.

Democrats are not against slavery. Their policy's are about choosing who will be the master.

They are willing to be slaves and work for the state as their designated master. They might be able to keep 10 % of what they earn but that won't be negotiable and is up to the master who they will give total power too.

How about in the LBJ and Nixon presidential libraries? They sold out this country as much as any confederate ever did.

The last time I checked, LBJ nor Nixon didn't start a civil war that nearly destroyed the USA - just so their "team" can own, abuse, and rape "property"
