I think some states opted not to show the eclipse outside because you can move it to a museum with the Confederate statues and enjoy it just the same.

That makes sense. There can be a presentation on the dark days of our country when slavery was embraced (cue music) followed by the eclipse - darkening the venue. The voiceover will talk about abolishing slavery and the sun will reappear. Then people can knock down the memorials and throw urine at one another, making it an interactive production.
