I didn't know that they only set aside a certain amount for the protection of the president and his family. Well, they've gone through that. That's regular pay AND overtime pay budget set-aside.

Looks like guarding the Trumps is expensive, although to be fair, this is supposedly a problem that predates the Trump Administration. Still, after what he said about Obama's costs to the country, this is a bad look!

Here you go.

STATEMENT BY U.S. SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR RANDOLPH “TEX” ALLES

The Secret Service has the funding it needs to meet all current mission requirements for the remainder of the fiscal year and compensate employees for overtime within statutory pay caps. The Secret Service estimates that roughly 1,100 employees will work overtime hours in excess of statutory pay caps during calendar year 2017. Our agency experienced a similar situation in calendar year 2016 that resulted in legislation that allowed Secret Service employees to exceed statutory caps on pay.

...
This issue is not one that can be attributed to the current Administration’s protection requirements alone, but rather has been an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo.”

In other words, Congress and Obama last year allowed the SS budget to be exceeded - so because of overtime that they allowed - they will indeed exceed the budget.

In other words - to blame this on Trump is... FAKE NEWS.

UPDATE: I need to edit this. I missed something. Obama exceeded the SS budget as well - they just quietly passed legislation to allow the budget to be exceeded. This has happened before numerous times in the past decade as he stated above.

So this is really is no big deal. It is FAKE NEWS to make it a big deal.

He says it's been commonplace over the past decade... you say it's a big deal because of Trump.

Who should I listen to... you or him?

Default Secret Service director tells agents: I am 'fighting' to get you paid

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ail/597501001/

Trump and his 18-member first family spend so much time on vacation and at Trump properties, that at least 1000 SS agents have not gotten paid due to salary caps for all the hours they're putting in.

These are people who put their life on the line for a man who treats them like personal servants. Disgusting, but typical of Trump. He screws over everyone.

Trump also charged Secret Service over $7000 for port-a-potties at Bedminster, and over $13,000 for golf carts to follow him around his golf course.

Trump and his pathetic grifter family are bleeding taxpayers dry for his own personal benefit, and his supporters still cheer after years of attacking Obama for spending far far less.
