Makes sense after Charlottesville happened on their campus, they wouldn't want to here the name Robert Lee ever again, seeing as his statue led to three deaths and dozens injured. That must suck to have the name Robert Lee though. So many situations were that can go wrong in your life.
Was it really the statue's fault?
I blame the person who first gave the statue the gun to shoot down the helicopter and then the keys the statue used to drive the car.
Why give a statue a gun or keys? It was a Confederate statue. Those statues are notoriously violent.
"It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play by play for a football game has become an issue.”
I think it's at least a little ironic that ESPN made it an issue and then spins it like OTHER people are the ones making it an issue.
Frankly both this private decision as well as local decisions to take statues down or whatnot fall firmly under my set of values titled "that's their business".
If you don't like it then vote with your wallet, viewership etc. *shrug*
