Los Angeles Is Now Fining Subway 'Manspreaders' for 'Taking Up Excessive Space' | Daily Wire

Quote:
If you "manspread" on the subway in Los Angeles, you could be $75 poorer after your ride.

The Los Angeles Metro has announced it will be fining passengers who insist on being rude to other passengers, and who fail to follow a Los Angeles Metro code of conduct called "Metro Manners."
Quote:
But Los Angeles says it's also taking on the "epidemic" of "manspreading," or the tendency of men riding public transportation to sit with their legs spread apart, taking up more than their fair share of seating. LA appears to believe manspreading is a space problem, but radical feminists have been after manspreaders for years, in New York, Boston, Chicago and on the West Coast, for a behavior they believe results from "toxic masculinity" and a male need to project status, particularly against women.
So "manspreading" is worthy of legal action for "taking up space" but women that take up space with their ginormous handbags and shopping bags are okay?? Yeah, makes tons of sense.

Blatant sexism. Do they not realize there is a very valid physical reason for sitting like this?

This is also a fine in Madrid among other European cities.

The Science Behind 'The Manspread' according to Neil deGrasse Tyson
  • one of a few reasons I don't take trains or buses
  • men and women are, on average, anatomically different; men's legs and hips don't work the same way as women's legs and hips (not to mention genitalia), and crossing legs or pushing knees together is ill-advised
  • if I am forced to take public transport, I'll sit comfortably so long as I'm not next to someone, and yes this does involve a 1.3x to 1.5x on NDT's formula (watch the video above)
  • if I have to sit next to someone I generally take only as much room as is created by two imaginary lines extending out from the left and right extents of my chair (and I'd expect those on either side of me to do the same) -- it's unnatural and uncomfortable but sitting next to people on small seats sucks, what are you gonna do?

Meh, what a lot of nonsense.

Women can hold their bags on their laps and men can close their legs or else stand up.

How long before they consider "mansplaining" to be a form of sexual harassment and send them to jail?

There is no end to the insanity. Liberal democrats should never gain power. They will push to far the insanity agenda.
