This is devastating to the delusion on this forum that Obama was a leftist. He was a far right corporate capitalist who will destroy anyone trying to change the financial and political structure of this country. Its why he is partying with his billionaire friends; they reward him for a booming stock market, more powerful banking regimes, and a broken local economy where community banks are floating in the water dead.

They also give him props for destroying Libya.

You are painting a picture, but I'm not sure the article entirely supports the main idea you bring forth.

Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him. (Asked about that, a spokesperson for Obama pointed out that Obama recently said he would support and campaign for whoever the Democratic nominee is.)

...
When it comes to Sanders, I asked one close adviser whether Obama would really lay himself on the line to prevent a Sanders nomination. “I can’t really confirm that,” the adviser said.

You think an adviser would give an official statement that hurts Obama's image?

All this stuff comes from donor meeting and behind close door conferences, not public statements for PR management.

Also the quote continues:
"The only reason I'm hesitating at all is because, yeah, if Bernie were running away with it, I think maybe we would all have to say something. But I don't think that's likely. It's not happening.” (Another close Obama friend said, “Bernie's not a Democrat.”)"

He says it because he doesn't think Bernie will win, that is pretty irrelevant overall because if that perception changes, then they will make a move.

We already started to see this.

Obama without naming names basically already stated his opinion that Ds should not nominate Warren or Sanders.

Bernie has no shot. People are suspect of his health. Also, his socialist policies are not getting the traction with most Dems. Warren and even Gay Pete have a better chance, unless someone "better" enters the race.

Sounds like the article is trying to make the case that Obama SHOULD intercede if Sanders is leading. There is no actual statement that Obama plans to or even wants to jump in and dictate to voters.

I doubt Obama cares either way, his favorability rating is higher than everyone running including Trump. Makes no sense to try and tip the scales so early in the process when Sanders is NOT a topping a single poll.

Here is the reality about Bernie. He is never going to be a front runner or contender. Yes, he does have some followers, but never enough to get him elected. Obama, or anyone else, would not have to lift a finger to get him out of the running.

Nice guy, but nowhere near Presidential.

So who is it that Obama wants? He's trying to stop Bernie, and he certainly isn't willing to endorse Biden. And based on what he recently said about the hard-left turn the Democrats have made, he isn't going to support Warren, either.

My fear is that he is trying to weaken all contenders, paving the path for his wife (who was the REAL racist in the family) to enter at a later point, avoiding the debates that would cast her in a bad light. The last thing this country needs is an angry black woman who went on the national stage proclaiming how she was never proud of America - until a black man was elected president. She sees EVERYTHING through the prism of race. Enough is enough.
