The government is NOT the economy.

So again, what is it that I do not see?

EDIT - saw your other responses, and I get where you at. My bad for replying without having read all that came before in the middle pages of the thread.

I'd love to see a revenue (gross donations) threshold established where larger churches become taxable entities. The presumption is that these organizations are charitable. However, these mega churches are about lining the pockets of their leadership.

If you want to add an extra $71 billion to the economy, start taxing churches
This has been discussed before on CD ....As I said then.

If you open them to taxation by removing the churches status you also give them access to things they currently don't get to do. Like overt lobbying and Campaign financing Do you really want the church to come out during an election?

They already are out during elections.

The Catholic church and others have been openly lobbying for anti-abortion politicians and laws for the past three decades.

In North Carolina, churches came out big time for the marriage amendment and they're all over the stupid bathroom bill.

Non profits can state opinions on bills and laws that affect them. What they can't do is be partisan about it.

On the same token, I'd love to see them do the same and tax casino's as well.

So you see no difference between a POTUS talking about a disaster like this:

"If this thing hits it will be.....NOT GOOD. Believe me."

or

"Irma is shaping up to be a catastrophic event, the like of which the US Mainland, and Florida in particular, have never seen. Local, state and federal agencies are gearing up to full bore in order to address the multitude of needs related to such an event. Please - take this storm seriously and make preparations and plans well before it hits."

To me, one is the ramblings of someone with either dementia or a vocab limited to mostly 3 letter words and the repetition of the same BS ("believe me" seems to be the POTUS favorite term....also the know words that liars and con men need to buttress their BS).

I guess if one doesn't see much difference between Russia and the USA, they don't see much between a Progressive and an Authoritarian. Peace.

Neither party lives up to their word. Russia has nothing to do with that.
