They should not be allowed to ask for nor store any information on race, gender, and other personal characteristics. My skin color and gender is NOT part of my application!

Why isn't Trump talking about this?!
They don't ask you for that information except in the voluntary statistical portion of the application that you can choose " decline to answer" on. Same goes for disability status and veteran status.

In other words, what are you talking about?
You just said they ask for it. What are you debating? Do you really think HR isn't using that information? You can't possibly be that naive.
They don't just chuck your application because you declined to answer. They use that data to prove that they aren't automatically tossing the applications of minorities or disabled vets in the trash. Feel free to choose " decline to answer".
Have you gone through a job application? I've never seen a company force you to answer those questions and if they did that would be illegal. If you volunteer and give up that information, that's your own fault. The laws are fine as they are. If they make that information illegal for employers to keep, that's fine with me, but it's not an important topic.

I decline to answer, but that doesn't mean HR isnt looking at my name and determining these things.
the only reason most of those things are on an application in the first place is government regulation. even though it is voluntary for the applicant to answer, the government wants as much of that information as possible, but they wont force its use, they cant right now.
if HR is goingt o look at anything on your application, they are going to look at your education and experience. for the most part these days, employers want qualified people that fit their environment as well as possible. most employers dont care about silly things like skin color, religion, or other voluntary information. i certainly didnt.
