Not. Why does the head of the VA even need to go overseas, let alone take his wife along for the joy ride? Ever hear of teleconferencing??

Nearly three days into a trip to Europe this past July, Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin had attended a Wimbledon championship tennis match, toured Westminster Abbey and taken a cruise on the Thames.

Yet he and his wife spent about half their time sightseeing, including shopping and touring historic sites, according to an itinerary obtained by The Washington Post and confirmed by a U.S. official familiar with their activities.

Unfortunate. Shulkin seems like an okay guy. Perhaps the swampiness is catching.

Reimbursing a spouses travel expenses in any business would be highly unusual as it would be an illegal write off for taxes.

Obama authorized more of these flights.

There were 77 so-called White House support missions authorized between Jan. 20 and Sept. 19, according to statistics compiled by the White House military office. By comparison, there were 94 such flights during the first eight months of Obama’s tenure. [LEFT]

That story is about military flights. That's not what this topic is about.

Someone didn't read the article they cited to try and make their argument:

Quote:
The White House does not approve or reject agency travel associated with private or chartered jets, officials say.
He spent $25K on a private plane from DC to Philly. That's like a 90 minute, $50 train ride. So it didn't save him any time. He's just a leech

Tom Price just got fired for his abuse of tax payer money. Maybe Shulkin should be next? What is up with these entitled rectums? So much for draining the swamp, but we all know Trump hires only the best people.

There are a lot who should be next:
Secy. of Interior Zinke
Interior Secretary Zinke chartered flight from oil executive, documents show - Chicago Tribune
Quote:
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke chartered a flight from Las Vegas to near his home in Montana this summer aboard a plane owned by oil-and-gas executives, internal documents show.

The flight, along with private flights during a trip to the Virgin Islands, could propel Zinke into the growing debate over the costs of travel by Cabinet secretaries, some of whom have chosen expensive charter jets and military planes at high expense to taxpayers over the cheaper option of flying commercial.
And then there's Secy. of Treasury Mnuchin
Mnuchin's travel: Investigators now probing another costly government flight - ABC News
Quote:
The Treasury's Department's review of Mnuchin's travel habits was triggered after ethical questions were raised about a military jet he and his wife, Louise Linton, used to travel to Louisville and Fort Knox, Kentucky, last month, and whether they may have used that business trip to catch a prime view of the solar eclipse. Investigators are also examining why Mnuchin, an independently wealthy former banker at Goldman Sachs, requested a government jet to take the couple on their European honeymoon in early August, a story first reported by ABC News. Mnuchin has strongly denied he used the Kentucky trip to view the eclipse and a spokesman for the Treasury Department said the honeymoon request was made so he could communicate securely with Washington. They added that the honeymoon request was later withdrawn.
