You're wrong celebrating traditional christian holidays polls 90% positive with the general public. But Capitalism polls negative with the left. Capitalism polled much better 30-40 years ago with the left. They are moving towards the historically failed ideology of communism/socialism collectivist ideologies.

I think some people, like the OP, have a poor sense of real social history. They've likely seen TV shows like Leave it to Beaver, and instead of viewing it as the idealized, fictional TV show that it was, have viewed it as a documentary or an absolutely true portrayal of American life.

I wish it was... on the surface it was.
However, it was a day and age where men could get away with sexually harrassing women in the workplace, a man could legally rape his wife, a woman was generally stuck in a marriage, even if it was abusive, because it was a nearly impossible world for single mothers, domestic violence was considered a private affair and rarely were husbands prosecuted for it, in fact, even specialists of the day advocated the idea that it was ok to slap your wife around a bit, the murder rate per capita is less now than in 1960, life expectancy for a male in 1950 was only 56, it was the era of McCarthyism and communist witch hunts, homosexuality or rather, same sex intercourse was an illegal act in 1950s America- penalties for which carried fines and jail time, African Americans were not permitted to live wherever they wanted or even dine or shop wherever they wanted.
None of this was ever discussed in Leave it to Beaver, with the exception of one episode where Beaver befriends a child of a divorced couple (oh, the moral outrage!)

Well let's dissect this post.
Christian holidays or any other religious holidays (Muslim, Jewish , Bhuddist, etc.) espouses the positive things that their religions should try to achieve as followers (peace on earth, good will towards men and other "collective" socialist ideas regarding humanity and worshipping a God who will deliver those promises)
Capitalism polled much better decades ago when everyone from the business owner to the lowly worker were involved in the aspect of having prosperity in some shape or form.
For example :
1: You worked 30 years for a company and you retired with a pension & employer subsidized health insurance.
NO MORE
2: Teachers had Unions and tenure ( they don't really get paid that much ) and you have states getting rid of those Union agreements.
3: Minimum Wage workers whose wages are still below the Federal poverty line even though they are Employed full time yet still qualify for Food Stamps ( not to mention many in the Military who also qualify).
Minimum Wage hasn't kept up with inflation or the rising cost of living so to these workers what is so great about Capitalism if they can't afford to live and provide for their families?
The American work ethic used to mean if you worked hard you should be able to have a standard of living were you didn't have to rely on the Government for living expenses or having to work 2 or 3 jobs just to subsist.
This is not the "American Dream".
That was true maybe 30-40 years ago but is no longer the case.
