Former FBI Profiler believes gunman likely studied the Texas tower shooting.
I believe this. Most of these shooters are found to have researched previous incidents in preparation for their crime.
O'Toole said both Paddock and Whitman carried weapons up to their sniper perches in front of other people. They positioned their guns in different places for maximum carnage. Whitman placed his around the Tower in turrets. Paddock knocked out two windows.
"Initially people thought there were multiple shooters on the top of the Tower that day because the shots were coming from so many different locations, but when in fact it was only one shooter," said O'Toole about Whitman's attack.
She believes it's likely Paddock researched the Texas shooting. He would've been about 13 years old when it happened.
"Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long to have one so similar," she said.
I do not support putting armed security in every school, but PLEASE tell me you do not believe this. $500 PER STUDENT to put ONE armed security guard in each school. Either the average school only has 100 students, or armed security guards make $500,000 per year.
I'm not sure how you came up with that figure, but the pdf I linked goes to great lengths explaining their math, they calculate the numbers at various salary levels and provide various scenarios. There are a lot of kids in school in the US, in 2017 there are 55.9 million kids k-12 enrolled in public and private school
I'm sure you can find other sources that suggest the cost would be higher or lower, I included that one only because they discuss their methodology.
maybe a bad idea to make it easy for any guy to own 60 assault rifles that can be converted easily enough to automatic fire?
60 or 1, what does it matter? You can only use one at a time.

Plenty of countries have extraordinarily restrictive gun laws, but they still have the occasional gun murder, even mass murders, using military grade weapons.
Maybe this means it is not the prevalence of guns that causes mass murders, but the number of unheeded psychopaths with the desire to murder in our society.
The real solution to America's problem is figuring out why Americans want to kill. Taking away guns just means other forms of murder will prevail.

Would be a whole lot cheaper to grant teachers the right to carry and train on weekends.
When I was in highschool, we had lock down drills. Most classrooms the teachers desk was adjacent to the door.
When the drill commenced, whoever was closest to the windows shut the blinds. The teacher would order everyone else to lie face down on the floor and the teacher would sprint to the door to lock it to return to join us huddled on the floor.
There were other measures for other classes like PE and Shop Class.
Then the sirens would wail about 5 or 10 minutes later as police arrived. Soon after you could hear K9 dogs woofing.
I always ask my teachers why not have a pistol and hide behind your desk. If someone had a gun and wanted to kill us all, all they had to do was break the glass and unlock the door...
If someone broke the glass wouldn't you rather just order us to plug our ears and start unloading? And wait for police to give the all clear?
Something as basic as that was scoffed at. Few years later and Sandy Hook happened...
Police found the tool he used to break the glass windows.
A high roller, as this evil man was, can get rooms and suites comp'd to them, and some people 'lease' the rooms or suites just like any apt. lease, so they always have accommodations waiting for them. Since the hotel knew him, he could have had the bags sent up to his room whenever he visited. Except this time he wasn't traveling with clothing and gifts etc. And they don't need green money to play at the tables either -- they have 'accounts' at the casinos and take 'markers'. They also gamble in private areas many times. Games like Baccarat and so forth, are fairly private. The casinos cater to the high stakes gamblers.
As for showing flashes hours after the shooting, just a repeat of the scenes put together on news film.
I was responding to the poster that said that there were shots fired from another floor based on 'muzzle flash" seen on some video. That video shows flashes on a lowed floor window which were probably reflections from lights on the strip. The same flashes are still there hours later behind a reporter. The only windows broken out were the ones in the shooters suite. No one was firing from another floor as there were no other broken windows and the windows do not open in any of the rooms.
The flashes were there at 5 am behind a reporter. It wasn't replay of the shooting. It was reflections from lights on the strip. Unless the reporter was standing there talking into a mic during the shooting.
Roofs or windows of the other buildings. They should be able to take someone out on the ground or a sniper like this guy.
As it relates to this event, there are no roofs or Windows that would have enabled anyone to observe, let alone take out an aerial shooter.
For all anyone knows, that might have been a consideration for the shooter.
