Can they? Yes.

Will it make it much more difficult and deter many of them? Yes.

Do you lock your car doors because they can't be defeated or as a deterrent?

Why do you continue to be in denial when I posted two links denoting how the good walls do deter border jumpers very effectively? You and your fellow anti-wall people make no sense at all.
Because the majority of entries since 2007 are from people who over-stay their visas. The ones who already jumped the wall are already in here, so a new wall isn't going to change that. If you want to tackle the greatest source of illegal immigrants NOW as opposed to prior to 2007, you go after the illegals who have over-stayed their visas, and the employers who hire them.

Who knows more about border protection, Trump or border agents? Even the border agents do not favor a "new and improved" wall.

The locks on my car cost probably a few bucks to make... not a few 10's of billions. Cost versus benefit.

Show me a ladder that can be bought for $10.00.......

Particularly, one that is 30 feet high.......

Then answer the question, how does one get down the other side?.......assuming they can get past any obstructions at the top.

Then revisit your statement regarding "reality" once more.

We pay out much more each year to take care of illegals.

Yes, the cost of a wall will benefit us.

I seriously doubt you were ever issued a DL. I do believe you are either an anchor or here illegally.

Federal agents who patrol the U.S. border with Mexico want 23 more miles (37 km) of fences, better radios and more aerial drones to tighten the southern frontier, according to an unpublished U.S. government study that influences budget requests.

Border Patrol has not asked its parent agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to request funding for any new fences so far.

Exclusive: No wall, but more high-tech gear, fencing sought by U.S. border agents | Reuters

Looks like border patrol is not requesting or putting forth any case for a new wall.
