OMG... I just said banana Please don't boot me from the fire service. I'll volunteer to take a fruit time out and eat in my room.

I wonder if they would put out a house fire if someone was growing watermelons in their garden ?
Banana is obviously sexual harassment, you should be ashamed of yourself.

My feelings too...though I'll be a little less PC...

Moral of the story,

NEVER do something nice for other people. It will get you fired.

I think it's racist to insinuate that white people don't enjoy watermellon just as much as black people?

So a 41 y/o white guy gets a shot at a good job with a pension and he blows it by bringing a watermelon with a pink bow to a firehouse that is 90% black.

He probably got fired for being stupid.

Why would he be too old?If he is in good physical shape what's the problem?
And some people give women firefighters a hard time thinking they are too sensitive and can't handle the crude language among the co workers. I guess it's not just women.

As for the actual topic of the thread, sometimes a watermelon is just a watermelon. But big tough firefighters can't even handle a watermelon.

Good point, the black firefighters who complained should be investigated for discrimination.

I can still hear the shotgun stinging through the corn as we stole watermelons from Uncle Thomas. We grabbed a melon and he fired the shotgun.

It was a late summer tradition at home in east Texas
