having the sex talk and teaching children the birds and the bees is way different than teaching them what was on that homework assignment. i would not be happy at all if my son came home with that assignment. sex ed is important and needed for our children at a young age. homosexuality and gender identification and all of that is not something that 6th graders need to be learning at school.

my opinion.
But they already talk about it even as young as third grade. "So and so is gay'. Do they know what it means? It seems so but perhaps not.
However, I think the psychological aspects of sex orientation and gender identity should be held off until high school or maybe grade 8.
It should be saved for a course in psychology dealing with mental illness. And there is no such thing as gender identity. It's a made up term used by libs to normalize the abnormal.
Oh please. This is just another indoctrinated liberalism version of school curriculum designed to confuse the youth about a self identity issue that shouldn't even exist at this age.

Some would say there's something psychologically wrong with perennial bigots. But, you do you.
They are stealing our children's innocence. I wasn't even concerned with sex in the sixth grade, and I certainly did not question if I was a male. I grew up with 5 sisters. I knew the difference. They were girls and I was a boy. Duh. Not hard to figure out.
It's liberalism pushing all of this crap.
BS. 6th grade is when girls started growing larger chests. Puberty starts around that age. Countries with much more robust sex ed have far fewer unwanted pregnancies/abortions/STI's.
