I think that's the apocalyptic event in The Book of Eli, right?

Rather than reverting to 1850, why not temporarily move to another country and remain in the 21st century.

All of NK's stuff - which they could not deliver with precision anyway, pales in comparison.

Biggest NK threat is to SK......both nuke and conventional.

Much more plausible and probable that they would use their missile systems on closer targets. Their goalis to put the peninsula under one rule. From Pyongyang. With the little Pokeman in charge. Trying to hit the US directly is pretty .....ambitious. If Kim orders slinging nukes even just in their region against SK and maybe Japan He'll find his country an his army turned to slag and ash.

With what's been going on with Kim and NK I do believe there's plenty of force that he and all of we public types don't even know about. Common sense tells me there's at least a couple boomer subs hiding with pride very much within range of NK And despite the problems we've been having with missile frigates and commercial maritime traffic we still have a very significant surface vessel strike force in the region.

I also have my doubts that NK has the technology to detonate an EMP device against the US. That's really high tech stuff. All Kim's blustering and threats over rates his capabilities when it comes to nukes. And totally under rates just what he's up against. He could do a lot of damage to the South and Japan. But he's not taking into account that we (being the US) could surgically remove his country and him from the planet. If he uses nukes we won't have any choice but to do so. China wouldn't be to happy with that but they couldn't do much if Kim tries using nukes and makes the first move.

NK has developed technology that is scary in their hands. Kim and his generals may just be nuts enough to think they can get away with using it. Even if NK actually could hit the mainland US with something his country will still be reduced to ash. Kim is way out of his league in nuclear warfare. But if he starts it, what happens next should scare any sane person.

Uh; anything big enough to take out all of the US would also take out Canada, LatAm, Europe, Asia and so on. Fallout and radiation do NOT obey borders.

You mean it would take out North Korea too? Why would North Korea take out itself?

Edited to add: I read One Second Later some time ago. I don’t recall any radiation from the EMP. Now, if the bomb wasn’t an EMP and had hit the ground, that’s a different story. This article describes the fallout range for 10 different U.S. cities:

Bottom line: It’s a local event.

I don't know, if I lose access to TV and internet, I'd definitely feel pretty bad and violent.

For the first time, seaborne radiation from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster has been detected on the West Coast of the United States.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...tion/95196156/

That's from a nuclear reactor meltdown and, IF it was Kim tossing a few nukes at Japan; Canada would def being in the radiation path.

It doesn't take an expert to understand that N. Korea's ability to do this is somewhere less than zero. They can't even keep the lights on.
