There was rebellion music but it was just generational angst, not politics.

We watched the hippies be very political in the earlier generation and they seemed angry and confused.
If the hippies didn't get angry and confused the USA would have stayed in Viet Nam how much longer -- how many more would have been drafted?

Dang hippies.

And the folks saying hippies were angry and confused -- you need to watch some of the documentaries on the originas of the hippie movement -- Haight Ashbury -- it was not about hate -- getting high yes -- hate -- not so much.

Make love not war dude!

Lots of bread, carbohydrates....no accounting for fat content, trans fats, salt......

Did you live somewhere there was only one race?

There sure were racial issues and divides in the 80s in NYC. Trump even took out a full page ad to suggest that some black kids who were wrongly accused of rape be executed.

And I distinctly remember some 'Rodney King' type issues in LA in the 90s. Like beatings and riots? Like OJ's trial? Like the LA police chief Gates being forced to resign due to massive racist issues in the force?

Seriously? No racial divisions? In what universe?

I laugh when they say that music wasn't politicized in the 90's, guess they never heard of NWA or Public Enemy.

Uh, no... it was not Democrats having caused antagonistic, hateful behavior. Things had evolved over time and everyone was going along, until... BAM, one guy began creating trouble for all, wanting to revert back to a time of negativity. (MAGA, my A__!)

We hadn't seen this prior to the last Presidential campaign and election, or since. We never before saw the sort of behavior exhibited by ONE guy, whose childish taunting of other politicians and encouraging some in the country to express hatefulness, as he has relished stirring the pot of racism and divisiveness. It is an abomination and most in the country (and world) are appalled and wanting it to end.

Nice thread. Or rather, was a nice thread at the beginning. Too bad a scant few have to try to ruin it.
