No surprise. Calif. is infested with illegal aliens and other Hispanics who either don't want to learn English or can and won't speak it as their primary language of usage.
Thank goodness there are hardworking Mexicans speaking Spanish getting the produce ready for the rest of the country. Some individuals fail to understand that 40% of produce is grown in California by these people to feed the rest of us and work at less than the minimum wage.

These so-called hard working Mexicans here illegally are stealing American jobs, resources and taxes to the tune of $113 billion a year. Only 2% of illegals are picking crops and for those jobs there are unlimited visas for legal, foreign workers so you were saying? While the growers pay these illegal aliens less than minimum wage they pass their enormous social costs on to we the taxpayer. The rest of the illegals have taken jobs from Americans in construction for example by working for less and you're ok with that? Educate yourself on this issue and learn some respect for the American worker and the rule of law.
I couldn't care less what language people speak at home. Why do you care, OP?
We don't have an official language in the US - and even if we did, it still wouldn't make me care what language people speak in the privacy of their own home.
That's not a reliable claim to make. If we were talking on the phone, I guarantee you'd think I was a white guy from the Midwest. You wouldn't have a clue. You're making assumptions that are not grounded in fact. There's is absolutely NO evidence that those who choose to not speak English at home refuse to use English at all
Americans can't be maids or gardeners? Stereotype much?
I never said they refused to use English at all. I also said that I "hope" that the maid and gardener are here legally. So where's the stereotyping? The fact that he has to communicate with them in Spanish is kind of a tell all though. Most Hispanics here legally know how to speak English.
I am surprised the thread wasn't about obese Californians that don't speak English with hepatitis because of the opioid crisis.
OP is predictable. We get it, you hate anything California or liberal for that matter. You live a perfect sheltered life in Nebraska. There is a reason Nebraska is flyover country.

Boohoo for you. Freedom of speech must be kind of ironic for you.
This is appalling. Not for me, but for the children growing up in those homes. My grandparents were immigrants and they refused to let my parents speak anything other than English. My grandparents went to night school to learn to use proper English. I would hate to think how disadvantaged my parents and possibly myself would have been otherwise.
