Hard to say. As always, most of the political forum is too stupid to recognize that more than one variable can impact anything. I cannot express that enough. Stupid. Not only that, they have the hubris that they understand complex mechanics and yet boil them down to a single cause. I've lost all patience with this and refuse to humor it *nicely* like I used to.
Hopefully my recent spate of ignores additions of the most worthless forum posters will make this a more enjoyable discussion forum.
I may not agree with you (for example) but I can respect your arguments and willingness to discuss things.
In general TV ratings are down, but early NFL ratings were down more but could recover over the year so that's inconclusive.
Then again, we shouldn't compare the NFL to general ratings because I know lots of people that will pay for NFL ticket so that muddies the waters.
One piece of interesting evidence is the decline in attendance which defies the general "cable revolution" and with the economy generally doing well is concerning for the NFL.
There also was a decline last year which of course is unrelated to any controversy.
IMO I feel most of the decline is an ongoing trend and a smaller part is the kneeling thing.
Throw in other factors like continued youth interest in other sports like soccer, the whole CTE thing and who knows what else and I arrive that there is some substance to the claim but of course not nearly the attribution given to it by those trying to blame the whole thing on a backlash to kneeling.
My 2 cents. (I'm not going to re-source what is already in the thread and others on the forum.)
