They did not care when their party and Bush exploded the debt.
When Obama moved into the WH, suddenly the debt was "out of control."
Now with the GOP in complete control of the federal government...the Republican Congress wants to pass a tax plan that explodes the debt by an additional $1.5 trillion.
Do we hear any concern from them on the debt right now? Nope!
Ergo, they are NOT the party of fiscal responsibility - not even close.

Harry & Nancy had the 3 biggest debt years in US history and the 2 biggest with Obama as well.
I don't trust projections by the Swamp rats who are trying to depose the President.
To be fair, it it were me, the focus would be on the debt before any other economic plan or discussion (I would be cutting costs everywhere (yes the military included)) and both parties are essentially useless in this regard.
p.s. Congress passes the budget, not the President...he executes the laws passed (at least he's supposed to).

LOL!!!! Duh! Congress passes the budget. So the GOP controlled Congress during most of the Obama administration blamed.....Obama for the debt!
Republicans don't care about exploding the debt - their only preference is that they want to be able to do it.

So true. I have yet to see a fiscally responsible Republican President/Congress even though they preach that they are. Not that the Democrats are any better.
They actually don’t care about debt even when Democrats are in power.
Republicans only care about three things: using as much of our treasury as possible to spend on the military, tax cuts for their donors, and erasing as much regulation as possible on big business.

Generally speaking, the year over year deficits tend to decline when Republicans control both houses of Congress. This is largely due to economic growth trends that include a strong dollar, an increase in workforce participation and wage growth.

The 2 highest debt years in US history had Dims controlling the House, Senate and Presidency (Odummy). Only after electing Republicans did the debt reduce. The worst years under Bush had Dims controlling the House & Senate. Republicans suck at paying off the debt and Dims are 10 times worse.

Because the democrats have no plan to reduce the debt, they just keep adding to it and raisng taxes.
Trump is raising the debt like a democrat, though unlike a democrat, has a plan to reduce the debt, making the borrowed money produce dividends which then would be applied to reduce the debt. Obama tried the same thing with a stimulus package etc and failed because he had no plan to use the money wisely. Obama's idea of a good investment was 500million dollar loss in solyndra....and that was obama's view in retrospect!!!!!!! pure money laundering attempt and if you don;t buy that then you have to conclude Obama was an idiot or just trying to intentionally crash the economy.
It's all theatrics. Neither party cares about it. I still say that their plan is to bankrupt the country so that they can reform it more to their liking, doing away with the parts of that pesky Constitution that keeps getting in the way of their complete control.

Well there were a few reasons including the 2009 meltdown. So will the GOP shutdown the government over the debt increases as they did several years ago, seems like they are willing to add to it with the tax cuts.
