Not accurate. Most of the things that are illegal are already actions that the majority of people would not perform whether there was a law against it or not. The law didn't stop them from committing the crime, their own moral compass did.

Again, if someone is intent on performing an action then no amount of laws will prevent them from doing so.

Didnt we fight a war in order to be a different type of nation than the rest?

In a nation where its people are equally armed as its Govt, tyranny would have a hard time getting established, as one US patriot once said "when a govt is scared of its people there is liberty"

BTW, how successful do you think the people would be today if they had to remove this Govt from power? Could the militias even do this and win?

I for one have given up on trying to reason on this subject. There are too many guns already and too many gun nuts who militantly worship at the altar of the second amendment for any sane policy to be enacted to stop these shootings. This is the new norm, and it's openly endorsed by militant gun nuts.
Absolutely true. USA will continue to lead the pace, with 5X more gun homicides that Canada or UK, and 20X more gun homicides than Germany or Australia. The gun fetishists could not care less.

Perhaps. But the lack of easy access to a weapon of mass lethality may slow them down considerably.

Laws do in fact change behavior but not perfectly but why does this argument only come up relative to gun laws.

If...if they were to take away our means to defend ourselves, the only ones that would have guns are the thugs on the streets and we would all be a "bird's nest on the ground"-free for the picking. The only way to confiscate the thugs guns is to do a house-to-house search and they aren't going to lose that voting bloc. Congress can pass all the alws they want and they only apply to lawful and legal owners that the vast majority obey the laws passed. Criminals won't obey anything but the law of the street. Moreover, take our guns and the government will have complete and utter control.
