the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
note that it does limit firearms to the people, it doesnt say you can have this, but not that gun. technically many of the gun laws on the books now are unconstitutional, including the national firearms act of 1938(?) and 1968(?). even the assault weapons ban of 1993 was unconstitutional. too many judges looked the other way though, especially in the 1930s when FDR threatened to pack the scotus with 16 judges if he didnt get his way on a lot of legislation he supported.
Note that it does NOT say that you are entitled to weapons of war and further note than when the constitution was written - they were using musket rifles.
not bad, but add to that a decent sized security force at the school as well, perhaps former police officers, or even on duty police officers, put them in suits rather than uniforms, and let them patrol the halls of the schools. how many depends on the size of the school.
another things would be to reduce the department of education down to a minor federal department that would become a clearing house of what works and what doesnt in all areas of schooling, including security, and various education programs, and have them pass on to other school districts the results of what other schools are doing.
let the local school districts deal with the security of the schools, since they know what is happening in the schools better than the feds 2000 miles away do.
And how are schools going to pay for this? How are cities going to pay for this? Last time I checked, Republicans hate public education and try with all their might to reduce public school funding.
I am all for putting more armed officers in schools but who pays for it?
If we would just uphold the Second Amendment and let every student carry hand grenades for protection, none of these school shootings would have happened.
Not sure where you are from, however, were I'm was from, it was about 1/2 mile to my deer stand, where I sat all day....was no problem carrying a rifle like that.
"Hunting" in this old man's vernacular does not involve sitting in a tree or a ground stand with a thermos full of hot coffee with some salt lick on the ground near him. It does involve traipsing for weeks at a time in the Pacific Northwest wilds stepping on ground never before experiencing a human footfall, carrying a groundsheet and as many packets of dehydrated food in your rucksack you can carry with your slung "prized" Remington 700 and Browning HyPower back-up in your armpit.
It involves climbing and hiking along the sides of mountains seeking deer, elk, moose trails or grizzly territory and plotting your approach downwind of that prey while perhaps spending a day or more sneaking to within .308 and an old weaver 6 power scope range of your chosen beastie.
It involves dressing your kill on the spot AND knowing where there's a Lumber Camp or Reservation nearby to get help to carry the meat out with negotiating how much of it they get to share.
THAT's "hunting"; the other stuff is called "ambushing". Those were my hunting in the 60's experiences.
I'm old, allow me my contrariness.
