But the California Central Valley is as conservative as flyover country. Why should you what those folks to leave? The Central Valley went for Trump.

So pathetic.
So as is the case in Oklahoma, California can't take care of its mentally ill as well.

Sadly when people on the right think of California, they only think of four cities, San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and Los Angeles

If someone wants to buy a house or rent a house in a populated area with mild weather near the coast and has a large family it is extremely, extremely expensive.

The most affordable grocery stores I have seen are in California. Lots of discount stores also with lots of big bargains.

There are affordable areas in California with Midwestern and Southern cost of living before the sky-high taxes but they tend to be in areas that have extremely hot summers so the utilities are extremely high.

States with very high cost of living tend to not be much more if one is single or DINK couple.
How can you have a room mate in a studio??? My friend lives in a so cal studio apt and pays 1300, a month and that's cheap. My other friend lives in a one bdrm and pays 1800 a month. Even the single people are Screwed here. My monthly expenses are

Electricity 30.00 to 60.00
Gas same as electricity

Cable/wifi 210.00
Gas 3.10 a gallon
Car ins 85.00
Not including credit cards and entertainment

The Central Valley is a hell hole for the most part. I should know, I grew up there. It's filled with overly religious simpletons. The only redeeming quality is that you are relatively close to some of the best skiing and mountains anywhere in the lower 48. The Central Valley is where the Bay Area and SoCal send the white trash.

I couldn't wait to move to San Francisco and live in a real metropolitan city.

Do you know why there are a lot of homeless besides the high COL? A lot of them migrate there because of the weather. Also other states have actually paid to move their homeless problems to other cities around the nation, California being one of the homeless recipients.

Some only see Hollywood when thinking about California.

I grew up in San Diego which is and has been conservative for a long time. There are a lot of military in the state.

That is the reason I moved away in 1999. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford a home. Now that is happening here in Colorado so I truly feel bad for the younger generations trying to buy into the housing market.

I would love to move back mainly for the ocean but I am firmly rooted where I am at currently.

$1,040 is cheap for a mortgage in a major metro, you must have bought early. I pay more than that in rent for an 800 sq ft one bedroom apartment, so consider yourself lucky. You don't have it so bad
