Really, the more you read about the pharmaceutical business, the creepier and more depressing it is.

If the pharma industry was so big and powerful, why did they just sit back and accept the tough 2012 narcotic drug laws that essentially killed their cash cow drugs, like oxy, percocet, etc?
Before these laws, doctors were writing scripts for opiates left and right, for just about anything, so opiate drug sales and profits went thru the roof...what industry accepts new Govt regulation that will kill its profitable products without a huge legal challenge?
Its almost like they were willing to give all that profit to the mexican drug cartels. I never thought Id see the day when drug cartels have more influence in DC than the pharma industry, but that appears to be happening, everything DEA, law enforcement, and pharma industry have done...ends up benefiting the cartels business.

Not all new law makes it tougher for BigPharma, I guess their lobby $$$ isn't wasted.

The US consumes about 80% of the global supply of opioids. Thus, it should come as no surprise the US has a serious problem with opiates, a better bang for the $.
The average opioid/ opiate addict is a white male, age 23. He uses drugs for recreational purposes, not physical pain.
Big Pharm, distributors and pharmacies are beneficiaries.

Yep and 99% of them were never prescribed anything to get them addicted. They are buying them off the street from the get go.
